10 Things to Remember When Your Child is Disobedient
This is a great little list of things to remember about disciplining our kids from a Biblical perspective.

Power to the People
This blog post on PluggedIn Online reminds us that we can have some control over who our student’s look to as “role models.”

New Research Explores the Long-Term Effect of Spiritual Activity among Children and Teens
“…the study shows that most American adults recall frequent faith activity when they were growing up. Moreover, it provides clarity that the odds of one sticking with faith over a lifetime are enhanced in a positive direction by spiritual activity under the age of 18. And it raises the intriguing possibility that being involved at least a few times a month is correlated with nearly the same sticking power as weekly involvement – especially among teenagers.”

LifeWay Research: Parents, Churches Can Help Teens Stay in Church
“Despite appearances, teens do want guidance when it comes to the decisions they face in everyday life, and parents and churches who meet those needs make it more likely those teens will stay in church as young adults, according to a survey of more than 1,000 adults ages 18-30.”

The RYM Newsletter

After a little bit of thought, I have finally come up with an idea to provide resources to parents who have been asking me to help in any way that I can. I will be sending out–on a consistent but yet undetermined time interval–an email newsletter that will include personal thoughts, upcoming events, and a Parent’s Toolbox, etc… The Parent’s Toolbox will include links to pertinent articles and videos. if you come across something good that would be good for other parents to read, please send it on to me and I will consider including it.
This “newsletter” will be articles that are posted here on the youth website (www.redeemeryouthministry.com). In order to receive the newsletter in your inbox, you have to subscribe to it. Just fill out the following form, and you will receive an email to confirm your subscripttion. After that, you should receive the newsletter on a fairly regular basis (weekly or bi-weekly).

Don’t forget! This week we will be having our 2nd Annual Costume Party at Carter Farms! Last year was a big hit with lots of great costumes! Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes, and we will have games, a bonfire, hot chocolate, s’mores, and a hay ride. So c’mon out, and bring your friends!

Time:  6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Place: Carter Christmas Tree Farm, located on Lewiston Rd, just south of I-20 in Grovetown

Directions: (click here for a map)

From I-20: Exit at Lewiston Rd (Grovetown Exit) and head south (turn left if coming from Augusta). –continued below–

From Church: Head south on Belair Rd and turn right on Hereford Farm Rd. (CVS and Fatz Cafe are on the corner). Continue on Hereford Farm Rd. When it crosses over Columbia Rd., it becomes Lewiston. Continue on Lewiston, and you will cross over I-20. –continued below–

–continued–In less than a mile, you will see Christmas trees on your left. The entrance to Carter Farms is a gravel drive just past the Christmas trees and just before the sign for John Deere. Look for a sign on the left that says “Branch Carter Photography.” Follow the gravel drive to the left, and you will see the bonfire.

Please drop off and pick up your students from the Farm, not from church!
