Engaging and Discipling Your Teen; by Brad Hambrick

Dear Parents,

As the Youth Pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, I view my role as a liaison or “go-between” between parents and their students. Frequently, a break down in communication happens between students and parents.  It is one of my main goals to help facilitate healthy and happy relationships between students and parents.
I am a tool to be used by parents in the lives of their students.  I myself am not the parent: I’m just a tool.  I feel that it is the role of the parents to “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)  It is my joy and pleasure to assist parents in this tall task.
Ultimately, my goal is to build relationships with students that are an avenue for sharing the gospel of Christ to the glory of God. This is done through RYM on Wednesday nights, Sunday School before church, and other events.  I also enjoy meeting with students outside of these scheduled events to get to know them personally on a deeper level and so that they can get to know me better as well.
One of the greatest assets that I have to give is my time. I am available to the students when they need a listening ear or a word of advice. I am available to parents who need help getting through to their students. Please use me and my time.
My teaching at any RYM function will always be based on the Bible and will be Christ-centered.  No game or activity can ever replace the importance of the Bible in shaping our lives. When students attend any event, they will hear from the Bible in some form or fashion.
If you have any questions for me about RYM, my vision for youth ministry, or my story, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I would love to speak with you over the phone or sit down and talk with you over a meal or coffee.  My contact information is located on the left side of this page.

Peace,
